6 m o n t h s!
time is flying! we’ve officially been partnering with goldfish swim school for over 6 months and i can’t believe how much progress our little ladies have made!
the girls are rounding out their last month in the mini 3 class and are SO close to mastering all of their skills required before moving on to the next level.
one of my favorite aspects of goldfish swim school is that they use a curriculum with specific skills the child should be learning. each week, they practice the same skills using the same methods with songs, character pieces, and little phrases that help the child learn the specific skill. the instructor then is able to report to the parent what they did well and what can be worked on at home throughout the week.
while these two little fishies are twins, they learn at their very own pace. they have their own strengths, their own weaknesses and watching them grow and develop, making strides at their own pace is nothing short of some of my proudest moments. they love their teacher, miss sydney, and goodness gracious does she have the patience of a saint!
lila is more adventurous in the water, likes to jump in, go under water and has really come SO far in her ‘sea otter float’. she is pretty fearless and has so much fun! she needs more practice in her superman glide, jumping in and turning back to the wall and pulling paddles!
piper has her own set of strengths and weaknesses but is so much more reserved in the water. she’s great at crab walks and wall holds but needs to work on her sea otter float and putting her face in the water.
i never knew just how much these girls would be learning in these swim lessons, but it’s so much more than just the logistics of swimming.
– specific swim skills {breath control, back float, gliding}
– water safety skills {where to turn if they fall into water, how to get out of a pool}
– participation in group activities {turn taking, social skills with peers}
– classroom skills {listening to a teacher, following directions}
i’ve said it before and i’ll say it again, goldfish swim school is so much more than just a swim school… from their employees to their mission, they are making this community a better place, teaching kids one of the most important life skills they can learn and having fun with it!!
i’ve loved hearing from so many readers who have started lessons with goldfish and seeing all those squishy babes having fun in the water!!
happy 6 months, little fishies! i can’t wait to see what you learn in the months to come!!
a huge thank you to our sweet friends at goldfish for partnering with us!
That is awesome! I’m considering taking my 4 year old there. He has special needs, and I would feel much more comfortable if he could swim!
Sounds like a great place! Love that they are learning so much more than just basic swimming. They look like they are having a blast!

I love these pictures, I have to laugh when I see them in the goggles because one time they were here swimming in my pool and they saw Grace in her goggles and they said they had to have their own goggles. So I got more goggles and now everybody has goggles. So for me to see them with these on just warms my heart! ❤️🐝👧🏼👧🏼💦
