We Went to Disney ✨ And It Was Actually Magical.
Yep. You read that right. We are not a “Disney family.” Or at least—we weren’t.
For years, I said it wasn’t for us. We’re more wide-open fields than The Mouse…
But last summer, one of my best friends had her bachelorette party at Disney (adult Disney is a thing, y’all), and somewhere between the snacks, the nostalgia, and the way everything is just so perfectly curated… I fell in love. Like, hard.
I texted Zach and my mom and said… um, we’re booking a trip.
Fast forward a few months and we did it.
Nine days. Four parks. Pool days. Rest days. Princesses. Fireworks. Magic.
And let me tell you, it was TRULY the most magical trip we’ve ever taken.
Even with the chaos. Even with the flu. Even with two kids puking on the flight home. (Mom life, right?)
Logistically, my stepdad is a pilot and flew us down and they hung with us for the week which was truly incredible – having 1 adult for each kiddo was amazing… and doing it all with my mama cue. The. tears.
Our Disney Flow:
We spaced it out intentionally and it made all the difference. No rushing. No pressure. We actually enjoyed it:
- Day 1: Waterpark scheduled – in reality, we just hung!
- Day 2: Explore the hotel + pool!
- Day 3: Magic Kingdom 🌟
- Day 4: Epcot (Space 220 was a family fave)
- Day 5: Disney Springs stroll + snacks
- Day 6: Hollywood Studios (roller coasters = worth it)
- Day 7: Pool day + Dole Whipp
- Day 8: Animal Kingdom
- Day 9: Travel day… and yes, the stomach bug joined us for that final hurrah. 🎉
Core Memory: Maisley’s Birthday 👑
The trip just so happened to fall over Maisley’s 6th birthday, and we surprised her with a visit to Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. Watching her transform into Princess Tiana was something I’ll never forget. She walked out twirling, glowing, and fully owning the moment. She became Maisley the Princess, and I sobbed (obviously).
Other Favorite Moments:
- Saying YES to everything—snacks, rides, staying up late, ALL of it
- Fireworks at Magic Kingdom (goosebumps, every time)
- Breakfast with the princesses (truly such a sweet memory)
- THE WEATHER. Not too hot, not too cold. Just ✨perfect✨
So… Here I Am. Eating My Words. And Already Dreaming About Our Next Trip.
This was not on my 2024 bingo card. But I’m so grateful we said yes. The laughter, the memories, the way the kids lit up at every turn—it was a reminder that sometimes the things you swore you’d never do end up being the ones you’ll never forget.
Coming up next in this series:
- Part 2: Coming Sooooon
- Part 3: Stay tuuuuned!
Because as it turns out… life has a funny way of leading us where we’re meant to be.
PS: Should I do a full Disney tips post? Like what we packed, what worked, what we’d skip, and how we planned it all without losing our minds? Let me know in the comments or shoot me a DM!
Big hugs,
