love travel?! be sure to check out some more posts HERE!
catch 22 sports pub
we kicked off our trip at catch 22 sports pub in greenfield, ohio.. and it did NOT disappoint! what we thought would just be normal bar food was SO delicious… truly the best BBQ Bacon burger i’ve ever had. the onion rings, sweet potato fries and buffalo chicken flatbread are also on the list of must-haves. while you’re there, grab one of the house made beers and take a sneak peak at the incredible brewery on the other side!
be sure to stop by this highly rate sports pub where you can gather and enjoy good food, sports games and live music. you won’t be disappointed in this pub which is clearly why it makes it top of the list of places you need to check out in highland county!
next up… the MUST SEE bakery in Leesburg!
batter up bakery
if fresh donuts are on the list of treats you love, you HAVE to stop by this incredible women owned, locally sourced bakery. hands down the best donuts I’ve ever had in my life and y’all, i like to pride myself on being a donut connoisseur. if traveling in summer, stop in early to snag a seasonal treat and also a hot cup of locally roasted, fresh brewed coffee. sourced by locally fresh fruit, you won’t be disappointed in the fritters, shortcakes, or the long johns. i may or may not have eaten 2 😉
batter up bakery not only has incredible donuts, but the talented women behind these goodies also boast some BEAUTIFUL cakes! be sure to call for all your baking needs and don’t forget to ask for a warm glazed donut to devour.
the frog and club restaurant
after a little break for our stomachs, we ended the day at the frog and club. located on a beautiful golf course, ask for a window seat so you can watch the incredible sunset. we started with a tasty pulled pork tostada and bruschetta followed by a perfectly cooked steak, the bruschetta pasta special and to-die for brussel sprouts! the perfect ending to the meal was a decadent chocolate lava cake!
whether you’re wrapping up a round of golf or simply looking for a family-friendly meal, the frog and club restaurant featuring hand cut steaks and pork chops is one you don’t want to miss!
woodhaven farm bed + breakfast
wood haven farm bed + breakfast is tucked away on a gorgeous privately-owned 40 acre farm.. i felt right at home! the perfect location for a day trip and only 1.5 hours from any major city in ohio! if you’re looking for a quiet getaway, this is the perfect place to relax with a good book, bird watch or tend to the garden! we enjoyed a peaceful walk around the property after dinner before hanging on the beautifully relaxing patio before calling it a night. my favorite part of a bed and breakfast?! the breakfast, and y’all, it did NOT disappoint!
be sure to visit woodhaven farm bed + breakfast to book your getaway today!
the daily grind
if you’re looking for a delicious cup of coffee, breakfast or lunch be sure to stop in the daily grind! these ladies are happy to make any suggestion and make you feel right at home. i had the chance to enjoy the lavender white mocha and while i was hesitant at first, trust me when i say it was yummmm! this adorable cafe + bakery has a wide selection of baked goods which are of course made fresh and from scratch daily…does it get any better?!
pro tip: while i would highly suggest stopping in and taking your time, if you’re in a rush, you can order online and take it to go!!
maplecrest meats + more
next stop on our getaway was maple crest meats, a family owned and operated farm raising black angus + angus influenced cattle. the cattle are meticulously selected to consistently ensure a high quality product. not only do they ship around the nation, but you can enjoy the same high-quality, delicious and extremely nutritious beef they’ve been feeding their family for years, at home. you can buy fresh or frozen bulk meat {i picked up frozen steaks for our family trip down to Florida!} as well as deli sandwiches made right in the store!

momma’s cafe
our last stop of the trip was the amazing momma’s cafe… and it was even better than what you’d expect from the name! located in hillsboro, their motto is ‘where families come to eat’ and it was just that. with home cooked foods and homemade recipes, the two friends that own this restaurant offer a variety of breakfasts, lunches and dinners. be sure to save room for dessert {which is near impossible with the delicious entrees} because their homemade, made from scratch cobbler is one for the books!
a huge thank you to the visitor’s bureau of highland county for hosting us on a wonderful getaway!
