We’re coming off of such a fun weekend in Cincinnati with our kids and I can’t wait to share it all with you! If you missed the real time action, be sure to check out my stories, here!
I think we can all agree that the last year has been tough on not only us as adults, but for our kids as well and we certainly have cut back on the amount of traveling we’ve done. As Ohio opens up, there are many Cincinnati-area restaurants, shops and hotels who are ready to welcome you back, safely. Best of all, supporting these businesses is a great way to lift one another up!!

A Weekend in Cincinnati with our Kids
King Arthur’s Court
I honestly can’t believe I’ve never been to King Arthur’s Court because it’s THE coolest toy store… and right here in Hamilton County!! It’s easy to see the kids were amazed and in complete awe at the amount of incredible and unique toys that lined the walls. From puzzles to legos, vehicles to baby dolls, games to STEM kits + SO much more, you can find that unique gift or simply get out of the house to enjoy all the store has to offer.
**see below for the COOLEST part!!**
Just when we didn’t think this place could be any cooler, just down the steps and into the newly renovated basement you will enter The Dungeon! Their newest addition boasts the coolest play experiences for kids of all ages including a zipline, archery experience {Lila loved this so much she bought her very own bow + “arrow” for home!}, hanging Hugglepods to relax + read a book in and more!
King Arthur’s Court is ready to welcome you and with the staff’s commitment to safety, everyone will have a great time!
Pro mom tip: Stop by every Tuesday for story time + popcorn with your kids! BONUS: you can host your child’s next birthday party at King Arthur’s Court – how cool!!
Algamesis Bro’s Ice Cream
Next on our adventure was just a few steps next door to the cutest gourmet ice cream and candy shop! Algamesis Bro’s Ice Cream, known for their rich, super premium ice cream and deliciously decadent chocolates certainly didn’t disappoint. We were impressed to find out the family owned business has been delighting Cincinnatians for well over a century and STILL uses the same Old World recipes that were used when they first opened their parlor in 1908! How amazing is that?! As Ohio opens back up, you’ll notice the increased cleaning procedures in place to safely accommodate guests during this time.
Pro-mom tip: While not available while we were there, be sure to snag a spot at the ice cream bar and pull out that camera for the cutest snap for the scrap book!
Embassy Suites in Blue Ash
After a very busy day, we headed to Embassy Suites in Blue Ash for the night. The touchless key + payment made it so we were on our way to the room within minutes which was fantastic for our sleepy crew! The rooms were the perfect size with Zach and I enjoying our own room and the kids on the pullout couch. We enjoyed a movie as we snuggled in, ready for a good night’s sleep.
Of course, the kids woke up extra early excited for another full day of adventure, starting with a delicious, complimentary breakfast. After our bellies were full, we threw on our swimsuits for an epic pool party in the heated indoor pool… our kids wishlist in hotel amenities! We swam our little hearts out before heading back up for showers + to get ready for the day ahead.
Summit Park
Y’all… this is THE ULTIMATE park and if you’re in the area, you MUST check out Summit Park! This gorgeous park boasts an impressive 130 acres in the heart of Blue Ash and activities for every person of every age. From the newly added creative playground to the Great Lawn where weekly activities and farmer’s markets are, there is SO much fun to be had.
Nature Playscape:
I think the biggest thing that sets Summit Park apart from all other parks is the diversity in play areas and I have to say, I think my favorite is the nature playscape! Made out of wood and recycled materials, kids can enjoy the zipline, swings, climbing and digging in the sand with diggers {Miller’s favorite!}. The other part of the nature playscape is an area where kids {and adults!} can explore the water, stones and even explore water pathways!
Where to Eat
After so much play, you’re bound to have some hungry tummies and with 3 dining options plus an ice cream shop, there is plenty to choose from. We LOVED the Brown Dog Cafe and enjoyed the outdoor seating with umbrellas. From the delicious summer cocktails to the locally sourced food and amazing service, I’d highly recommend adding this to your list of places to stop!
Whether you’re looking to hit up the dog park, fishing pond, walking trails or even rent out a room, you can spend multiple days exploring all Summit Park has to offer!

Pro-mom tip: Be sure to bring sunscreen, a towel and swim suits for your crew as they can explore the nature playscape and water!
Cincinnati Zoo
If you’ve been around here for any length of time, you know our love for the Cincinnati Zoo runs DEEP!! From feeding the giraffes to watching the elephants play in the water, we have been to the zoo more times than we can count and continue to encounter new experiences and have a blast. You can see more of our zoo adventures here!
Fiona and her mama put on a show like we’ve never seen before! It was SO fun to see them swimming, playing and exploring their habitat!

Pro mom tip: Wear your tennis shoes + bring a stroller/carrier for younger kids as there are a lot of hills + walking. You can pack lunches, snacks and drinks in a cooler to bring along and enjoy in the shade.
Whether you’re local and ready to get back to safely supporting your community or you’re looking for an incredible city to visit, Cincinnati is excited to welcome you back. With so many places to choose from, your entire family is sure to have so much fun.
