celebrations

This post is brought to you in part by a morning nap for the wee ones + a big cup o coffee in the midst of a house that looks like a mini tornado came through it,  and of course, pajamas.

We have been so busy over here the last week prepping for such a wonderfully busy weekend full of family, friends and celebrations… this morning we spent some extra time snuggled up together taking it all in.

Last Tuesday, May 10, our beautiful little babies officially turned one.  we have two one year olds. i was so emotional the entire day week.

The whole weekend was filled with so much celebrating, my heart could have exploded.  Not only did we have the girls birthday party on Saturday but we also stood before our family on Sunday at church and dedicated the girls to the Lord.  I was so busy I literally snapped like two pictures.

Saturday was the girls birthday party…

We ended up deciding that we wanted to celebrate the girls with all of our family… we are so blessed to have almost all of our family local, so this wound up to be quite the production.  I had grand plans of how I wanted this all to turn out, but, the weather had other plans.  Saturday wound up to be quite possibly the ickiest day…and our party was at a park, under a shelter.  By the time the party rolled around, it was like 43 degrees, hailing, raining, winds at 25mph…it was fairly terrible.  Who would have thought May 14 would have such terrible weather?! We made the best of it… everyone was such troopers, but it was so chaotic that I didn’t snap one single picture! I know other people did, so they will come!

Zach brought the girls right at party time so they didn’t freeze, so they came in coats, hats, and blankets! Everyone ate, enjoyed each other’s company and came to celebrate the big birthday girls! We wound up calling it quits immediately after the girls attempted to eat their frozen smashcakes and headed over to my Grammie and Grampies to open presents out of the weather.

Everyone pitched in to help set up (it took us 45 minutes to put table cloths on in the wind and hail!) … needless to say I think that’s the last time we plan an outside pWarty in Ohio!!

As much as I stressed, it was so fun to celebrate such a huge milestone for our girls with family and friends.  It’s all perspective and truly, I was just thankful I had two little girls to celebrate.

Sunday

Sunday was such a blessed day for our family as well.

I am so thankful to have been blessed with an amazing husband who loves the Lord and leads our house in growing to know Him more.  We made a decision before the girls were even created that we would raise our children to know God and show them His love.  This weekend we were able to publicly dedicate our precious girls to the Lord at our church, again, surrounded with family.

Zach and I both were raised to love Christ and we chose our moms to be the girls’ spiritual leaders as they both had such an impact on our relationship with God.

daddy’s girl after such an exhausting weekend

We chose a verse for each of the girls that we asked our moms to read.

For Lila: She is clothed in strength and dignity and she laughs without fear of the future – Proverbs 31:25

+

For Piper: Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows – James 1:17

They both stood with Zach and I and delivered the most beautiful stories and prayers.

Not only did we dedicate the girls, but we also got to witness as Christine and Mark had made the decision to dedicate Graham as well.

After the ceremony we had everyone back to our house for an easy pizza dinner + cupcakes to celebrate our decision to dedicate the girls and Graham.

As everyone headed home, Zach and I sat on the couch, snuggling our precious gifts.  We tucked them under and said our prayers thanking God for such wonderful blessings.

What an incredible weekend filled with so many celebrations.

xoxo,

Lindsey
