kenneth miller | a life of love

last week our family lost the greatest man we’ve ever known and we spent the weekend celebrating his life earthside + rejoicing in his life with our heavenly father.

poppa has shown up here in this space many times but most frequently as the man that miller was named after. he created a life of loving christ, his wife {mammie}, his kids, grandkids and most recently, his great-grandkids. i have so many wonderful memories of loving this sweet, sweet man, learning and soaking up as much of his wisdom as i possibly could.
i could go on and on about his life accomplishments, but i think one of the most memorable moments i will forever remember are the final 15 minutes of his life.
pops had been on a downward slope of dementia with his physical health declining as well over the last few years but he still very much loved being around family. we knew he was in his final days and we spent friday by his and mammie’s side, making him comfortable, telling stories and loving on our sweet pops. we finally departed late friday night and got the call early saturday morning that the end was near. we had all told him we loved him and that it was okay for him to go be with the Lord and that we would take care of mammie and his pup, but he was holding on.

we arrived saturday morning and walked into mammie sitting with pops, intermittently praying and talking to poppa. over the next 15 minutes, we witnessed the most beautiful, selfless act of love i’ve ever seen in my life. we watched and listened as mammie walked him right into the arms of jesus, taking his last breaths as she told him she loved him and that it was okay to let go.
truly, the ultimate ending to the perfect love story.

while our hearts are broken, we are resting easy knowing our goodbyes are only temporary.
we love you, pops.

  1. Lindsay,
Such beautiful words for a truly beautiful man.
We loved him too and will miss him very much!
    Hugs!

  2. Learning about him was a pleasure and his wife spoke of him in the most respectable and revered way. I pray that I will have her class when I’m in her situation. Rest in peace sweet Poppa. ❤️🐝

  3. What a sweet tribute to your Grandfather. Many do not have the benefit of knowing their grandfather and seeing his strength and faith like you did. Many blessings to your whole family.
