good morning, friend!
i hope you’re checking in here feeling rested after this weekend and are having a great start to your week! i was flying solo for the better part of the weekend while zach helped his grandma get moved and then spent the weekend in columbus with our brother in law + buddies.. we had a great time at home and i can officially say i’m back to normal after a nasty bout of the flu + tummy bug. life has been a little hectic lately and i promise an update on all the craziness soon!
if you’ve been around here for more than a month or so, you know our love for goldfish swim school runs deep… the girls have been in lessons for almost 6 months now {holy guac, how did that happen?!?!} and miller, 4 months and i can’t see us stopping anytime soon.
what i didn’t realize when we first started lessons at goldfish is that there’s so much more than just lessons, if you can even say it that simply. when we first started with goldfish, i thought we were signing up for our weekly lessons and while i loved the facility, staff and lessons have been going great, i had no idea just how much more there was to offer!
friday night, after our babysitter came down with the flu, we had a change in plans, allowing me to take the kids to member appreciation night. while they are usually open for family swims, the facility is closed for a member-only {rsvp required} free event including swimming, a movie + an edible craft!
i worked it out so miller ate right before we left and gave him a few toys to play independently in his car seat on the side of the pool while the girls and i swam and played! we had so much fun blowing bubbles, jumping in and just playing. it was the perfect opportunity for me to spend some 1:2 time with the big girls and just being silly…while also reinforcing all those important skills they’ve been learning in swim lessons!
the girls saw some older girls pretending to be mermaids and instantly thought it was the coolest thing ever so they held hands while kicking around the pool and my heart about burst in a million pieces. they’re the best of friends and hearing piper ask ‘wila’ to hold her hand and make her ‘bwave’ while they were swimming made my whole night.
our biggest news for the night was that piper jumped in all by herself and even went under!! the girls have gained so much confidence since starting swim lessons and while lila is a little fishy and happily jumps right on in by herself, piper is more reserved and is more cautious around the water so seeing her jump in was SO awesome! she’s been talking about doing it for a couple of weeks but every time gets nervous and then frustrated when she winds up talking herself out of it. woo woo for ducky!
it’s been really neat to connect with other members over the course of the 6 months and we even met another set of twins that are only 4 days younger than the girls! talk about having a lot in common!
after we swam, we hopped in the showers {so convenient!}, threw on our jams so we were ready for bed and stopped by the ‘craft’ station before heading out. the easiest and most creative little snack…fish tanks!!
spread the blue frosting on the graham cracker and add some little sharks and fishies…the girls thought it was awesome!! they were able to do it completely independently {huge win in our books these days!} and they were delicious!
while we were swimming, our favorite staff member {aside from their teacher, miss sydney}, megan, snatched miller right on up for some snuggles and of course he got in on the graham cracker action!
megan recently had the opportunity to go to belize with goldfish swim school to teach kids how to swim and shares all about her experience on her blog that you can read HERE!
y’all know by now that i only share about companies that i love and stand behind and i’m honored to be a part of the goldfish swim school family. they’re changing lives, guys, both locally and internationally, and i couldn’t be happier that my kids get to grow up around these people!
a huge thank you to goldfish swim school for sponsoring this post! as always, opinions expressed are 100% my own!!
I love supporting small business owners and they hit it out of the park with Goldfish! Christine’s two boys take lessons there now too. I’ve been to both lessons and open swim – just plain awesome!
