i’ve adapted this specific project a million different ways with different colors for different seasons and it’s just as much of a hit in our house as it was in my classroom!

simple shiny valentine’s day craft
materials needed
light corn syrup {karo}
food coloring or liquid watercolors
paint brushes
cardstock/watercolor paper
trays {not necessary but they make cleanup SO much easier! we use them for everything!}
process
1. mix liquid watercolor {or food coloring to make this totally edible} + karo syrup.
**i usually offer 2-3 colors depending on the age of the babe and how many options you want!
2. paint!!
3. the heavier the paint, the shinier it will be…and the longer it will take to dry. no big deal either way, just plan accordingly!
**let your paintings dry flat until the karo syrup is hard… it will run and make a mess if you try to hang it while wet**
**if you’re not familiar with baking with karo syrup, it is STICKY + super sugary. i do not encourage my kids to eat it merely for best practice and i don’t want them trying to consume other art projects, but it also makes for the perfect craft for babies!
that’s it! SO easy to complete and hopefully with items you have in your pantry or can easily pick up at your next grocery trip!
happy valentine’s day, friends! i hope you enjoy this simple shiny valentine’s day craft!
