this valentine’s day sensory bin is perfect for babies, toddlers and your preschool or pre-k classroom in february!
do your kids LOVE playing in sensory bins, water tables and exploring different textures? this valentine’s day sensory bin specifically is great for kids who have sensory aversions and don’t like getting their hands messy or dirty with minimal cleanup!
materials
the beauty of a sensory bin is you can use virtually anything you have on hand or whatever you can find on sale at joann’s or hobby lobby!
i used shredded paper {dollar store at christmas…shop those sales, mamas!}
red christmas ornaments
foam hearts {left overs from a foam valentine’s day foam craft} and two buckets from the dollar store
directions:
1. put materials into bin {any plastic container will work! i use THIS bin as my dedicated sensory bin and rotate materials in and out}
2. let child explore!
i like to include sorting activities and different textures and see how they naturally explore… after giving them time, i give a gentle invite to sort different hearts, ornaments, etc.
notes: the first day should just be exploring for toddlers and discussing ‘rules’ {paper {and all materials} stays in the bin, balls are for buckets (not throwing), – this was day 1… still learning the rules! :)}.
