we are dayton…and we stand together.
memorial day 2019
18 tornadoes
an EF-4… 170mph winds + a path of 19 miles of pure destruction.
3/5ths a mile wide + on the ground a full 30 minutes.
but we stand together.
no power. no water.
but then there’s hope. and faith. and neighbors. and the community. and the city. our city.
my city.
the city that shows up.
the city that only asks questions like, “how can i help?” and “what do you need?”
the city who unites in a yard full of debris, locks hands and prays over the land. the houses. the servicemen. the people. the volunteers. the children.
the city who can have men in white hats show up to spread a message of hate on saturday…be met with tubas. and drums…and noise so loud that the only message being spread was the message of love. and acceptance. and community because this little city of dayton?
we stand together.
we stand together to cut down trees on tuesday, the day after the tornadoes hit.
and donate groceries. flashlights. water. toiletries. money. meals. services. time.
to clean. to clear paths. and laugh. and cry. hold hands + give hugs.
we will rally together.
we will rebuild together.
we stand together.
we stand together to rise above.
we are dayton.
and we are #daytonstrong
there is so much work to be done. it only takes a short drive through brookeville, trotwood, dayton, and beavercreek to see the destruction. houses on the ground. buildings flattened. so many are still in need and it will take years to rebuild. from prayers to t-shirts, meals to time, monetary donations to non-perishable food to smiles…your help is needed.
we donated our time to cut down trees and clear debris with the jeff probst group – keller williams community partners and purchased our dayton O shirts from shoppe smitten. $10 from every shirt goes directly to BOGG ministries, a local ministry helping to feed dayton. $10 = 20 meals.
we stand together, dayton.
