water bead activity for toddlers

water beads provide a super fun fine motor and sensory activity for kids of all ages! perfect for outside during the summer and easily brought inside, these are sure to provide hours of entertainment!

i was introduced to water beads as a special education preschool teacher and they’re a total hit in our house now with 4 babes under our roof!

check out these TOP outdoor summer fun toys, too!

one of my favorite centers in the classroom was our sensory table and it continues to be one of our favorite activities at home as well. i am notorious for throwing together a ‘messy table’ {we have two! this one + this one!}and letting the kids go to town, especially on extra wiggly days. while messes don’t necessarily bother me {hubby has a different opinion}, there are so many ways to limit the mess…so don’t let this scare you!  summer is the PERFECT time to turn your water table into a sensory table {outside} then hose off in the pool or sprinkler. also, finding water fun {like this activity in particular} is a great way to beat this summer heat!

if you’ve never played with water beads, do yourself a favor and get some stat. hours of entertainment!! they start out as tiny little beads but within hours they start to expand and grow into marble sized jelly beads. we’ve been all about the water beads this summer so i took it a step further and threw in some fine motor tools and scoops/buckets to explore. we read the dot by peter h. reynolds and then used our water beads to paint and the girls LOVED it! the activities are endless and y’all, pinterest is your best friend to get some ideas for toddler activities!

We read all the time around here and I am beginning to think more and more about creating sensory stations for my boys this summer!
