a snow-filled saturday

we had quite the weekend over here in snowy ohio but with it ending in a gross stomach bug, i’m wishing for one more day! the coffee is filled, breakfast is down and i’m ready for a fun day with the babes, starting with a little weekend recap.

we kicked off friday with an apt to check on baby sis… the funniest messages came in after i shared on stories that the gang was all here. as much as i can, i try to schedule appointments when i can have my mom watch the kids but it just doesn’t always work out like that. it’s not my favorite thing to do but we make it work and snacks/lunch/treats are almost exclusively how that happens. we just haven’t pulled the plug on giving the kids technology {they think their etch-a-sketch is an iPad} so we fill our time with games, books and low-key art activities {stickers, water painting, etc.}….and i’m never above the lunch of champions {lunchables} and at $1, they just can’t be beat! we rounded out the night with a family date with some friends who love the chaos as much as we do. food, fellowship and laughter.. it was a great way to kick off the weekend!

the snow was supposed to start sometime friday night and while we woke up to maybe an inch, there was much to be desired for a promised ‘snow storm’ that was said to be like the blizzard of 1928 {totally making that up…no clue what they were referring to}. needless to say it wasn’t the accumulation we were hoping for.
it was enough to keep zach home from moving some large equipment for a barn he’s tearing down and i think i can speak for all of us when i say we were SO excited for saturday of doing whatever we wanted to at home with daddy. the kids have been begging zach to use a cardboard building kit from aunt becca so we finally pulled it all out to build an airplane and the kids had a BLAST! it came in waves throughout the day so after their attention was done, we bundled everyone up to head outside and play in the snow!

it finally started to pick up making for the most beautiful pictures…and i snapped about 5 before i put it all away to just have fun!! for as much of a headache as it is to get everyone bundled, it sure is the best time…. we made it a full hour before everyone was chilly enough to come back inside for some lunch!

homeboy was having a bit of a daddy day….and heaven forbid mama want a picture on his machine.

we shoveled and played, had snowball fights and made snow angels… all the fun before it was time for lunch + some early naps!
after naps, we bundled everyone back up and headed over to mammaw + pappaw’s for a little sledding with the cousins! zach’s parents have the perfect hill for sledding and we made the most of it! the kids have so much fun playing together and we couldn’t stop laughing at the tumbles! it was one heck of a workout for this preggo…often carrying mills with a girl on my back, it made for one exhausted mama by the end of it! we scrounged up some dinner and packed up the crew to head home for bedtime.

sometime around 10pm i got hit hard with some sort of stomach bug and it was downhill from there. thankfully, i was the only one it hit {along with my nephews}, but mama doesn’t really get sick days so it makes for an awful bit. it really only lasted for about 12 hours and then it was recovery mode but teetering on nausea from pregnancy + not eating and the stomach bug was a fine line. every time baby sis moved it was blah. we made it through with the help of daddy and the girls getting a girls’ day with their aunt ebby! mills took an early and good nap so i pretty much hung on the couch the entire day. not quite the way we wanted to end the weekend but thankful i’m over it before zach had to go back to work!!

focusing on all the good this weekend and it’s not hard to see there was a lot of it… so thankful for this crew to make life so much sweeter, a baby boy who still loves to cuddle his mama, a husband who simply loves his family and a little snow magic to play in!

if you got hit with as much snow as we did and you’re in need of some delicious + easy snacks, check out this delicious snow ice cream from last year!!
