happy birthday, miller lee | one year

well, our baby boy turned O N E on saturday and we had the best day celebrating!! i still can’t really believe we now have 3 toddlers running a muck in our house but y’all it’s the best {and craziest} time ever!
we celebrated miller with all of his favorite things…donuts + candles for breakfast, a play date at the park with mammaw + pappaw, aunt stacy, grayson and our crew followed by splashing at the pool…just livin his best life filled with so much love.

the fastest year of my life, it seems like just weeks ago we were welcoming you into our family…but here we are, you’re learning to walk and running away with my heart, buddy.
you’re so full of life, the sweetest soul in the world and yet your sass is off the charts.. the screeeeching that you have discovered is about to burst my ear drums and then you flash that toothy grin and i swear i just fall into a puddle.
it’s been a year full of change and thinking over the last year all the emotions start flooding. if i’ve said it once, i’ve said it a hundred times in this space… i had no idea i could love a little boy as much as i do and watching you be the biggest daddy’s boy is amongst some of my most joyful highlights. your biggest fans are those two big sisters and if there’s anyone that can make you laugh, it’s those two goofballs.

you’ve been the easiest babe from the beginning and i can count on one hand how many really tough days we’ve had. i thank God every single day for your sweetness, your silliness and making me into a better mama. you’ve taught me to chill out, to savor these moments and be present in our day to day life, your little light just follows wherever you go.

you are so loved. like, so, so loved. as if you weren’t getting dragged {sometimes very literally} around the house covered in smooches all day, every day, your daddy is your biggest fan, your sisters fight who is going to get into your room the fastest to climb into your crib and then carry you out of your room… your cousins are SO excited to have another little boy to play with and i swear you love them all so differently, but SO SO much. you have 6 grandparents who dote on you every chance they get….aunts, uncles, great aunts + uncles and of course great grandparents who show off your pictures to whoever will look.

this last month has been the biggest changes and if you blink you’ll miss them…

you’re now able to stand up in the middle of the room, take a step or 3 or 7 completely on your own, and then crack up when you fall right on your tush.

you’ve just started to imitate some sounds and the verdict is still out if fluid in your ears will be a problem. you have a whole bunch of babbles…dada, mama, awwww duh, buh buh buh, iiiiiiiiii, eee but they’re just starting to be purposeful.

you can wave. clap. give the biggest stink eye/shy head tilt. dance and sing along with jesus loves me.

you love to imitate the use of every day items…drinking from a cup, brushing your hair, your teeth…

your orneriness is hilarious and the full on temper tantrums when your feelings are hurt, aka told ‘no’ are going to give me a run for my money….you have a thing for electrical outlets, the remote + buttons, the fireplace and virtually anything dangerous that you shouldn’t be into.

your favorite song is get along by kenny chesney and if it’s not THE cutest when you get wiggling every time it comes on.

almost walking + most definitely cruising. you’re on the moooove and as long as you have a finger, hand, table or walker to hold onto you’re basically running as fast as your little legs can handle.

you sleep like a champ…a solid 12-14 hours at night with a 2 hour nap during the day.

you’re over bottles and have been on cow’s milk and a solid food diet for the last 2 weeks. you eat virtually anything and everything you can get your hands on… from chicken nuggets to any cooked veggie, mac n’ cheese, yogurt, peanut butter on anything or just by the spoonful… eggs, fruit…the only thing i’ve found you don’t love are straight avocados and straight tomatoes. can’t blame ya, bud.

you’re in size 4 diapers + size 12mo. clothes.

you have taught me so much about motherhood and you’ve been my little buddy from the beginning. we did a lot of things different this time around and i suppose learning as much as we did with two babes the first go round made us really appreciate the simplicity of one babe. we co-slept with you in your dockatot and we loved having you within arm’s reach those first 6 or 7 months. you slept like a champ from the beginning other than when you were sick or had those goofy two teeth coming in. now you are cutting 6 more all at the same time which has proven to have you rather emotional and attached to my hip.

this weekend, buddy, was all about you. we stuck a candle in your favorite food ever and those big sisters helped you to blow out your very first candle. i can’t wait to see what the next year will bring us, but sweet boy you just keep getting better and better each day.
happy birthday, miller lee.
