spring mama style with stitch fix | may 2018

goood morning and happy monday! i hope you’re checking in here after a fun-filled weekend and are feeling rested!
zach was at the lake for the weekend so the kids and i had a low key friday playing outside. mills and i hung for the rest of the weekend getting running errands for the girl’s birthday party coming up and getting stuff done around the house.
saturday the girls headed off to aunt ebby + uncle bunny’s {zach’s aunt and uncle} for a birthday sleepover to kick off their birthday week! i’ll be posting soon for a recap of their fun…she is one of my biggest fans in this space and has such a special place in the girls’ hearts. she invests a lot of time into making the kids feel special and is seriously SO creative with everything she does with them! i’m always amazed to see the pictures and hear their stories when they come back!

i wanted to kick off the week with my most recent stitch fix box! i’ve been getting boxes monthly with a waived styling fee after i purchased the style pass membership {$49 that went to anything i purchased, plus a waived styling fee for a year!} and they’ve been a little hit or miss. out of 3 boxes, i’ve kept 1 item {a shirt i fell in love with} but i’ve had so much fun getting new boxes!

i have used stitch fix for coming up on 5 years now as my main way to get clothes in my closet. while i’ve always been a shopper and love clothes, i don’t have the time any more to get out with 3 babes, but more importantly, my body has changed so much after becoming ‘mama’ that my wardrobe has just needed some updating. things don’t fit me quite right, and ‘date night’ attire looks differently these days!

note to stylist

i asked my stylist for a very random box this month… i’ve been on the hunt for white denim and the sizes just haven’t been working out lately, so i asked for a pair of white denim, a neutral sandal for the summer, and something mermaid-ish for the girls’ upcoming party {if that even existed}.

STITCH FIX

if you’re not familiar with stitch fix, here’s the run down…and if you are, hop down to the reveal.

1. you fill out your style profile, answering all sorts of questions on sizing, pricing, preferences, colors, etc. you can also write notes about likes/dislikes. linking your board on Pinterest so your stylist can see what you like is a huge help so your stylist can get a good picture of the types of things you like!
 2. schedule your fix! you are typically charged a $20 {waived for this month!!} styling fee however, if you keep any item (or more) that fee goes towards those items. i always recommend keeping at least one item or you are essentially giving away $20.
 3.  best mail day evvvvver.  you will receive 5 items (clothing, jewelry, shoes, accessories, whatever you prefer). i personally only want clothing in my fix so I just always let my stylist know.
 4. take 3 days to decide what you want to keep/send back (in a postage paid envelope, of course).  use this time to try everything on.  match what’s in your closet, use your jewelry, walk around in it… this is my favorite part. i hate buying a shirt only to get home and realize i have nothing to wear with it. with stitch fix, this isn’t a problem!! bonus: if you keep all 5 items you will receive 25% off your entire fix, yaaaas!
it should be noted that while I have chosen to receive fixes randomly when i choose (when i have an event coming or need something new), you can also opt to receive fixes on a schedule (monthly, 2x/year, etc.). i started stitch fix 5 years ago and have randomly received fixes then!
**stitch fix also offers men’s, women’s, maternity and plus size!! you can also purchase gift cards to give which make a perfect surprise present for anyone in your life!
if you see anything that you like below, feel free to pin away and/or ask your stylist in the notes section of your next fix for something similar! i am the queen of copying other fixes!

stitch fix box #24

chambray shirt {stitch fix} | skirt {stitch fix} | purse c/o

1. renee c – ashton maxi skirt

when i cheated and saw what was in my box, i was less than excited about this maxi. maxi’s just aren’t really my thing, so i assumed it was going back. BUT THEN. i started trying it on with other things in my closet and found two options that i fell in love with! i actually think this is going to be an outfit that goes in my regular rotation! super cute + super easy!
one of the main things i love about stitch fix is trying things on that i wouldn’t necessarily pick out for myself and being able to try that item on with other clothes in my closet! side note: that bag….ammmazing. perfect transition from diaper bag to purse and while it’s totally an investment piece, the quality is worth it!!
verdict: keep

2. daniel rainn – salinka crochet detail knit top

another one i wasn’t super excited about when i peeked but then i put it on and fell in love.  this is seriously the cutest and i’m obsessed with the detail! my stylist had thrown this top in specifically for the girls birthday party paired with the white denim and i totally think she’s onto something! don’t be surprised if you see this pop up for the girls’ birthday!
verdict: keep

 3. pistola – jackie distressed released hem skinny jean

hallelujah we got some white denim! these are so soft, stretchy and the perfect amount of distressed! they’re a little long with the released hem but otherwise fit perfectly, so i cuff them, which i think is cute anyways to wear with sandals. now the goal is to try to keep them clean with tiny messy hands running all over the place.
verdict: keep

4. toms – lexie leather braided sandal

i had specifically asked for a staple neutral pair of sandals for the summer. i’ve worn the same brown sandals for the last 6 years {yep, 6} and it’s time to retire those. i’m a HUGE fan of toms so i was really excited to see them show up! they always hold up extremely well with and are super comfy so i knew they would be a winner…and i actually forgot to take a picture of just the sandals…but, they’re super cute!
verdict: keep

 tank {stitch fix} | jeans

5. papermoon – egan textured knit tank top

this was kinda so-so… which was surprising because i thought for sure i’d fall head over heels. it’s really pretty long but not roomy enough to knot… i think it’ll be great tucked in a bit in the front or maybe with some boyfriend jeans, it’s just an odd length for my short frame. i also assumed that it was going to have pretty detail based on the name, but it really isn’t as textured as i was thinking. i always appreciate the detail in pieces like that, but it’s still an easy, basic look! i probably would have returned this one, but it was cheaper to keep so that i got the 25% discount than it was to return it!
verdict – keep

that’s a stitch fix wrap!

if you’re in need of a last minute mother’s day gift for your mama, sister or girlfriend, stitch fix gift cards also make the perfect personal gift!
