what’s in the diaper bag | mama of 3

one of the most frequently asked questions i get asked is about my diaper bag…from what is my favorite brand to what’s inside to getting asked what i’m carrying at least weekly when i’m out and about… the diaper bag is a hot topic. just yesterday i was asked 4x where i got my beautiful ‘purse’…everyone is so shocked when they find out it’s a diaper bag, too!

this post is not sponsored and while i was gifted this blush pink bag from lily jade in exchange for my opinion, i get asked all the time about what i actually carry, so i wanted to get it all down in a blog post!  i can assure you that my very first lily jade was purchased and a gift from my mama for christmas 3 years ago that i still use!
i have run the gamut when it comes to diaper bags but one of my must-haves is that the bag MUST have the backpack carry option. my very first diaper bag was a jujube BFF when the girls were little and within the first month, the strap ripped and because i didn’t have proof of purchase {it was a gift} they wouldn’t replace the part. i was majorly bummed because i knew how expensive it was and that was when i started to research a different bag and came across lily jade.

y’all, they’re expensive. but on average, mama’s go through 2-4 diaper bags by the time they stop using one and let me tell you… it adds up. i look at it as an investment piece that is well worth every single penny. i put it on my christmas list and basically begged family members to combine presents so i could get this bag. my mom + stepdad graciously gifted me a meggan in camel and when i opened it up i squealed and then spent the rest of the day admiring my gorgeous bag.

as time has gone on, i still use my meggan on a regular basis but it’s one of the biggest sizes and i typically use it when we’re out for the whole day or running to doctor appointments and i need all the tools.

when i had the opportunity to try out the shaylee, i about fell over when it came in the mail… it is gorgeous and the pink is the most beautiful, timeless shade. it’s a little smaller than the meggan so i use this as my day to day bag. it’s comfortable and i almost always use it as a backpack so i’m hands free for all the babes.
what i love most about the lily jade bags is the insert that comes with the bag with a changing pad. the insert can be completely removed, washed, etc. and perfect if switching between mama + work life. it has the perfect amount of pockets for organization without it being crazy.
i absolutely couldn’t say enough good things about this bag.
and if i didn’t already love them so much, they have the biggest heart for mama’s and give back to mamas of adoption…what more to love.

so what’s in my diaper bag?!

diapers
travel wipes {my favorite size for the diaper bag}
changing pad
snacks – pouches, raisins + fruit snacks
snacks for mama – bar + nuts
extra pair of clothes for mills
extra undies + leggings for the girls

books
water wow painting {perfect toddler activity!}
water bottle
wallet
key
lip gloss
hand sanitizer spray {this stuff is cheap + the bomb}
boogie wipes {also bomb}
glasses
ziploc bag for messes
wash.it.later. {i was recently sent these emergency soaking bags and while i haven’t tried them out yet, i stuck one in my bag and know it will be coming in handy soon when little miss maisley arrives!! i’ll keep you posted on my thoughts!}

on the days that we’re out and about for the entire day or have a day full of therapy/appointments/etc that the kids need entertained or even a full set of clothes, i switch out and bring my lily jade meggan {camel}..that one that got used hard from almost 4 years ago? still gorgeous. still looks brand new and it’s a bit bigger to stuff ALL the stuff!

what’s your #1 diaper bag must have?!

  1. I literally just commented how pretty your bag was last night at Lila’s dance class! My how far diaper bags have come. It looks like a regular purse. So much more versatile. Two thumbs up!

  2. I love the backpack! I have some great backpacks that I love to carry myself. It’s so funny, as I look at the items that you put inside that diaper bag, I have over 75% of those items at my house right now for my little visitors. This is a really interesting post and I could see it being extremely helpful to moms, grandmas, and aunts. ❤️🐝
