well, nothin like 3rd child probs and getting the short end of the stick on updates!
i overheard someone ask zach how old mills was at the festival the other week and when he answered ’16 months’ i almost fell over…less than a week away and this post has been in the making for nearly 3 weeks. life been BUSY! we’ve been really intentional about time as a family and sometimes that means this space gets the backseat..but. i can’t let these months go by without keeping track of our babes! i don’t keep baby books and someday when the kids spread their wings and fly, i want them to have this space they can turn to and see a scrapbook of sorts. when we start talking development, i always have to go back and find the posts to see just when the girls said their first words or popped all those teeth! so. nearly 16 months and  i’m over here in a puddle on the floor thinking about my baby being 1.5 years!!
SO much has changed since his last update at just 1 year and here we are… gosh, so much to talk about!!!

mills is that kid that everyone falls in love with the moment they lay eyes on him because yes, he’s cute as pie {not that i’m biased or anything} but he has the b e s t personality to go along with it. he’s social, outgoing, will gladly pass out hugs if requested and he simply LOVES life. he’s all boy.. ALL boy. loves to rough house, cars, lawn mowers, trucks, trains, tumble, climb on evvverything {i turned around last week and found him standing on the kitchen table}, and homeboy likes to get dirty.
theeen on the other hand, he’s THE sweetest, loving, caring, goofy, most precious little boy i’ve ever met {again, not that i’m biased or anything…}. if i say it once, i say it a million times. i could eat him up.

OH onesie was a gift from my girl, the ever talented justine @ little dove

development

holy moly bud…everything is new! you’re getting to be a tall boy, jumping into the 85th percentile! you now have 7 teeth with some molars making their appearance soon…walking + running everywhere you go, but still hanging onto that little toddle that is my favorite ever. you’ve recently attempted to jump and it could be the funniest thing i’ve ever seen… two feet come up and you land right on your tush!

you’re talking up a storm these days, babbling on and on.
words you currently have: mama, dada, bobo {generalized term for ours + all dogs}, all done, muh-muh {milk}, teh-tee {cookie}, yes, night-night, uh-oh, bye bye, haaaa-lo {hello}, ta-ta {turtle}, bub-bub {fish}.

you’ve found your little independence and it is SO much fun watching you develop into this little person with opinions! tantrums have started and by tantrums, i mean you stomp your feet for 3 seconds, turn in a circle and put your head in the floor…and then you want a hug and you’re done. it is THE cutest thing i’ve ever seen and it’s so hard not to bust out laughing as just how adorable you are…. i’m holding out hope they’ll stay that cute 😉 for the most part you are so easily distracted that when you’re getting into something you shouldn’t, all it takes is finding a new toy and you’re happy again.

you’ve started noticing just how funny you are and will often either dance around or make silly sounds just to get everyone laughing. you’re happiest either with your sisters playing who knows what…their own personal live baby doll…or following your daddy around doing all the daddy things…the lawn mower being your fav. you’re a mama’s boy when you want snuggles and if you’re tired or you get hungry…but past that, you’re more interested in the men in your life! daddy, uncle justin, uncle mark, grampie + grandpa are definitely your favs in the world!

you love to be outside, climb, swing, toy cars, toys that can be pushed, your electronic ride on steam roller, build towers and of course power tool play sets.

eating has pretty much been status quo.. although you most certainly have started having preferences for what you like and dislike and the dislike list is growing. for the most part you aren’t picky though and most definitely eat more than your sisters combined, unless those teeth are bugging ya. mini muffins are your favorite followed by yogurt, applesauce pouches and PB + honey sandwiches. you expect a cookie after dinner and we all hear about it if you don’t eat a good enough dinner to earn one… sorry bud, you’re a big kid now!

schedule

you are one in a million because this is the easiest i think anyone could have it… you’re SO easy going and if i need to mess with your schedule due to errands, special events or late nights, you easily adapt without missing a beat. the girls still can’t do that so for the most part, i’m pretty strict on a schedule, but you show me the most grace…and i will forever thank you!

7:45-10:00 – wake up {it’s not uncommon for me to have to wake you to get the girls to school at 9}
breakfast immediately upon awakening…heaven help us if i have to change you first because you pooped… you immediately want food!
brush those toofers + it’s your fav part of the day!
play time/errands
12:00 lunch..and don’t be late.
if we’re out and about you usually catch a catnap just after lunch, but if we’re home you can hang.
1:30/2 – 4/4:30 nap…all babes down!
4:30-6 play time
6:00 dinner {again, do NOT be late}
bath time, jams, brush those teeth again + stories with the sissy’s
8:00 bed time snugs

BUDDY. you are something else. literally the light of my life, i’m pretty sure the girls will look back at these years convinced i didn’t love them because i just love you SO much…and while that isn’t the case at alllll….you’re in the  stage where temper tantrums are still cute and you can’t yet talk back. although the high-pitched shrill scream i hear every time you want attention i could do without.
you’re playful, endearing, and you love your sissy’s hard…but your favorite is your daddy, which honestly makes my whole heart explode. you’re busy, SO busy, and i never knew i could love a little boy as much as i do you. you’ve changed my whole heart and has made our family more complete than we ever thought possible. you have two big sisters who may think you walk on water and little did you know you actually have 3 mother hens running around this house. you’re silly. you’re sweet. you’re stubborn. and have us all wrapped around your fingers… we love you so much, bub.

  1. Lindsay I absolutely love following your journey with your children. They are so precious and you are one beautiful mother!!

  2. Yes, I know how the older children can feel less loved while the younger can do no wrong. 😂
