miller's 2nd construction birthday party

we had so much fun with this construction birthday party theme! our sweet boy turned 2 on sunday and we had the best time celebrating him with all of the machinery things!

to be completely honest, i scheduled his party and then completely forgot about it until like the week before the party…and then again until the day before. ha, my sister called me as i was standing in meijer panicking because i had completely forgotten to do anything about a cake or any sort of a dessert…whoops. mama/blogger fail.
i wound up buying a pre-made chocolate cake, took off all the decorations, crushed up some oreos and made them into a #2 and stuck a truck on it!

i truly love parties, celebrating birthdays and making a huge deal out of it… but, life’s a little crazy right now so i kinda threw this all together on a whim and got real lucky with the fact that we have a whole bunch of construction and farm equipment in the barn and a little boy who loves machinery…so we just went with it!! i pulled out my phone twice to have my mom snap a pic of us and past that, i was living in the moment. my dad walked around with his camera to grab what pictures i’m uploading…but, in the realm of blogging, this fell a little short…and i’m completely okay with it!!

when everyone arrived it was pouring rain which was such a bummer but it quickly slowed enough for us to be outside, climbing on the tractor, golf cart + mower…all of miller’s favorite things. the kids all got rides, played on the playground and ran around like crazy people giggling and having a blast.

we grilled hot dogs + burgers, i bought a bunch of chips, veggies and fruit at sams and i made the most delicious dirt pudding…we sang happy birthday, and dragged miller off the tractor to unwillingly open presents!

zach’s birthday happens to fall 5 days before miller’s so we wrapped up the night with a bonfire, s’mores and catching fireflies for the perfect birthday party for this BIG two year old.
